We stayed here for one night during our two-day trek in Cinque Terre. The accommodation is located directly on the trail, which was a big advantage for us—we didn’t have to make any detours off the route. The view from the terrace was absolutely stunning, and we also enjoyed a beautiful sunset right from our room window. The staff were very friendly, and both check-in and check-out were quick and hassle-free. We also really appreciated their willingness to accommodate our request for a gluten-free and lactose-free breakfast. Overall, a great experience - we highly recommend it.

This place is awesome. The views are great, but the reason they're so good is due to being at the top of the hill. If you're bringing luggage, this is a short of difficult trek from the train to the bus and the bus to the hotel. Once you've done that, the rest is AWESOME. No safe, no fridge.
Views are great, and without luggage, getting to the train is fine. Easy hops to any of the other of the five towns.
Breakfast is great too, with outside or inside seating.

This inn is in the Cinque Terra...far up on a hill, overlooking the sea and the town of Manarola. Because of it's out of the way location, it's a bit difficult to reach, but the effort is well worth it! What amazing views from the rooms and the terrace! The hosts are amazing. One evening we purchased a bottle of local wine from their bar and just watched the sunset....little snacks coming to augment our enjoyment! We highly recommend this location if you want peace, quiet and amazing views!

In the heart of 5 terre. Easy bus ride to Manarola. Directly on the trail. Small grocery in the village. Nice church. Extreamly friendly staff.
DO NOT BOOK HERE IF YOU HAVE MOBILITY ISSUES

My girlfriend and i wanted to have a long weekend with some nice views and a chance to relax in the cinque terre area. This hotel was so much more than we anticipated. Our room (number 8) was in the middle floor, right below the "penthouse". We had ample room inside and a large balcony overlooking the bay.||The arrival via shuttle from Manarola was quick to find (after the train exit tunnel, turn right and up the city until you see the ATC sign on your right) and the hotel staff welcomed us very warmly. The room was cleaned daily and every request we had, was fulfilled when we came back from our day trips. Even a bottle opener and some glasses to enjoy the sunset on our balcony free of charge.||Mornings began with a spectacular view out the bedroom and the balcony windows (to the wine terraces and sea respectively). We can also recommend to wake up in the middle of the night and enjoy the moonlight sparkling over the sea.||The breakfast looked a little bit simple at first, but then we got freshly brewed coffee, orange juice and scrambled eggs freshly made for us. You can take everything on the hotel terrace where the view is even more fantastic. What a way to start a day!||Last but not least, you can travel by shuttle (10-15 min) or on foot (less than an hour) down to the town. If you want to go to Corniglia the path starts right next to the local church. On this path (5 min from the start at the church) you will also find a small wine bar/manufacturer, which we used to enjoy another sunset with a glass.||Overall: In our view this hotel is perfectly located, has a really warm feel, very good services and will help you to slow down and relax.

We stayed here for two nights but wished we'd stayed here during our whole time in Cinque Terre, rather than switching hotels mid-point. The highlight of this hotel is definitely its front deck area, which has a stunning view; sitting here was one of our favorite things during our time in the area. The room itself was clean but very bare-bones (no extras like water kettle, tissues, notepad, etc). You can request a room facing the water if you book with the hotel directly. The owners of the hotel were extremely hospitable and helpful with all of our questions. You access the hotel via a "bus" (like an airport shuttle van) from Manarola, about a 10-minute ride up (you do NOT want to try to walk this). The hotel will give you the bus schedule, and it was consistent/reliable. You can pay cash (2.50) or by using the Cinque Terre card (which you'll want for accessing the five towns via train).  HIghly recommend for the view and service!

Positive aspect:
The location of this property is absolutely stunning (but this is not a rare occurrence in the respective area -Cinque Terre is known for being very scenic).
Negatives:
Very bad experience with the owner and the staff, as well as the BCR (benefit cost ratio) that was very low.
About their attitude first: we had an exchange of messages in which we announced about 4 hrs ahead of our arrival that we will be later than expected. We had planned to arrive around 6p.m., but because of circumstances independent of us, we were delayed,
coming from Florence, and we wrote to them that we will arrive around 9. Their answer stated that they will not check us in later than 8:30p.m. (rude tone and content). I can't describe how stressful the drive to their location was - mountainous road, hairpin serpentines, the entire drive at a higher than comfortable speed, trying to meet their timeline.
We made it by 8:34, when it was already almost dark.
Their exact location is not accurately mapped in Google Maps because it's not at the main road, but on steep foot paths down the mountain. Once in the area, where we
could not even park safely (remember the kind of road?) we started calling and texting to get help in locating the property. NO ANSWER!!! (we have proof of this through
our timed messages).
Long story, short: we managed to find them with help from the locals, ( when we were already desperate realizing that we were out of a place to sleep, and it was too late to find another accommodation.)
After we reached their reception, where the
staff sheepishly mumbled that she couldn't answer because her phone "was not working", we suddenly got a message with some instructions to their parking place.
Later that night, we had another unpleasant exchange of messages with the owner who totally denied the evidence that they intended to leave us in the dark that night, after of course pocketing the (way too high) rate (for the conditions). He kept saying that we should be grateful that he didn't charge us an extra 30 euro for "checking in late".

Now, why do we say that the rate is way too high?
The conditions, comfort and cleanliness of the place are questionable: the room and the bed linens were not clean (this triggered my husband's allergies). The bed was uncomfortable, the bathroom also dirty, small and unpleasant - they don't even have hooks for towels, cheap facilities.
The difference was stark especially compared with other places in Italy where we stayed before and after Albergo di Marzo (Venezia, Florence, Sardinia).

I see that other people had a very good experience with this place and host - I'm honestly glad for them. But this is not supposed to happen: for whatever subjective reasons to take revenge on innocent tourists who entrusted this business with their money and time!

Above and straddling the busy touristic Cinque Terre towns of Manarola and Corneglia, Volastra was THE perfect town to stay in - peaceful with sea breeze sight and sound … and national reserve hiking trails to both. And Luna di Marzo with its terraced views to all, was idyllic for both breakfast and aperol spritz cocktails. Rooms simple but spacious, owners always quick to service any request. Add in easy bus nearby to Manarola, an Inn next door for quality dinner (no need to go back into a CT town at end of long hiking day) and a rustic, impossibly charming outdoor cafe for local wines and fresh bruschetta along the trail … and you have Cinque Terre done perfectly!
