The Hotel Latemar is conveniently located in the centre of Soprabolzano, a tiny village near Bolzano. It takes only a few minutes by foot from the local cableway. |We had a nice, comfortable room with a balcony and a terrific view of the mountain landscape! The bathroom was quite small, but still accessible. Everything was spottlessly clean. Breakfast was lavish, and we opted for half-board. They served dishes from the local cuisine with a modern twist. The staff were helpful and kind. Good price/quality ratio.

This is a lovely traditional but updated family run hotel in a beautiful location. We spent a week there in October and were extremely comfortable and well taken care of. The meals were a highlight of every day. The breakfasts were abundant with everything you could think of including eggs cooked to order, bacon, espresso, as well as all the usual buffet items. Dinners were varied and very well prepared with excellent ingredients and served very attractively in the gracious dining room. There was always a salad/antipasto bar and then a choice of first course, second course and dessert. Some of the dishes we enjoyed included the ossobuco, schnitzel with currant sauce, various pastas, cream puffs with chocolate sauce, apple fritters with custard... This is a very comfortable, friendly place to stay and be taken care of while you enjoy the beautiful walks and the mountain air.

We were here 3 years ago (see review under Renon hotels) and again in October for 5 nights. We loved it 3 years ago and found the same welcoming hotel where we slept like babies and ate like kings. They have updated since our last visit and now have a beautiful, spacious, up to date spa and indoor/outdoor pool. But the traditional, intimate character of the hotel remains. It is the perfect place to regenerate and enjoy the beautiful walks in the Renon and to feel a connection with the traditions and character of this very special area.

Stayed at this family owned and run hotel for 4 nights in August in a suite on the 2nd floor. There is a lift. The hotel offers a range of different rates from Bed and Breakfast to Half Board. We opted for a suite, as there were 3 of us, and the half-board as our initial research of the area indicated that there did not appear to be many cafes/restaurants within easy walking distance in the small village. It turned out to be a very good choice as the meals on the whole were excellent.||||The hotel is in a great location on the side of a hill with a large grassed area in front of it. There are great views to be had of the surrounding mountains from the terrace and the dining room. We also had an excellent view from the balcony of our suite. The hotel is only about 200 metres or, about a 3/4 minute walk, albeit uphill, from the Funicular station (where you can catch the cable car and, in about 12/13 minutes be in Bolzano) and the narrow gauge railway station (where you can catch a train in the other direction to Collalbo). There is a free car park within the hotel grounds.||||Our booking also included Ritten Cards for each of us that gave us free transport on the funicular, train, cable cars and museums in Renon and Bolzano. Excellent value.||||Our suite consisted of a combined lounge/dining room, a separate bedroom and a large bathroom. In the lounge/dining area there was a sofa lounge, one half of which had been converted into a single bed, unfortunately not all that comfortable, a round table with 2 chairs, a long desk/return/sideboard that stretched along one wall and had a lamp on it, a separate stand alone lamp, a TV and a very large cupboard. There was a large balcony off the dining/lounge room with 2 chairs and a table on it. The bedroom had a large king-sized bed (2 singles put together - comfortable) with a small chest of drawers and a light either side. There was also a small table and separate return along the wall and a large wardrobe with lots of hanging and drawer space. There was a small key operated safe in this room.||||The bathroom was very large with the shower being in the bath. Shower pressure was good.||||The room and hotel generally was very neat and clean. WIFI was included in the price but was very patchy in our room but better in the common areas. The room was heated but there was no air-conditioning so it was warm on a couple of nights.||||There was a very well organised system for breakfast and dinner. You sat at your allocated table at breakfast and received a copy of the menu for that evening's meal and marked out your selections. You also received a bill to sign off if you had any extras e.g. wine, at dinner the night before. You were also allocated a table at dinner.||||Breakfast was a buffet with cereals, home-baked bread, pastries, cheese and cold cuts, honey, jam and other condiments, juices, eggs (the latter on request), tea and coffee. ||||Dinner consisted of 4 courses being a salad buffet, an entrée, main course and dessert. Some of the dishes we had were Tomato ravioli, veal with potato and ratatouille, cauliflower soup, turkey entrecote, lasagnetta, beef entrecote and pork fillet with roast potatoes. Desserts included fruit tarts, dumplings and strudel. Overall the meals were very good and certainly filling. ||||The lady at breakfast and the staff during the evening, which generally included one of the hosts, Margit or her daughter, Renate, were friendly, attentive and efficient.||||Our hosts were excellent, even arranging for their staff to do some clothes washing for us which they did not charge us for.||||One of the only small negatives apart from the WIFI, I would comment on would be the timeliness of the communication. Unfortunately Margit did not speak English so communications with us were left to Renate, whose English was excellent. Unfortunately, it could be up to a week before we received an email in response to a query. ||||We did not use the bar/café or spa so cannot comment on these but Renate did advise us that over the coming months they were putting in a swimming pool. The guest lounge area was a good spot to sit and have a chat.

My wife and I wanted to stay somewhere up in the mountains around Bolzano and found this place online. The price was reasonable and you could ask for meals to be included. We're glad we asked for the meals because the breakfasts were a great way to start the day, and the dinners were amazingly tasty. Highlights of our meals include a great schnitzel, lasagne, and bavarian cream dessert. Being up in soprabolzano allowed us to access the train easily and enjoy several hikes atop the mountains, including the Rittner Horn, which I highly recommend. The rooms themselves were good. Clean with plenty of space to store our bags in the closets.

Stayed1 night at this Hotel in September 2016. Very charming Hotel with stylish, nicely appointed and quiet rooms, very professional and friendly staff and wonderful meals. The location on the Renon is incredible with amazing views and culture. Would most definitely stay here again.

This hotel is a five-minute walk away from cable car stop "Oberbozen" which in turn allows reaching the city of Bozen 800 metres underneath in less than 15 minutes with its museums, theatres and cultural life at large.||||Staff are extremely courteous and provide excellent gastronomy at affordable prices, also remarkable is a large room devoted to kids especially when the mountain weather would not permit playing outside or wandering around. Open from approx. Easter until beginning of November, classified three stars.||||Enjoy the magnificent landscape from there as well as in Collalbo (Klobenstein) at the end of the cute and historic tramway route riding over the plateau of Oberbozen within 15 minutes and with spectacular views of the Catinaccio (Rosengarten) chain of Dolomites.||||Also a sauna is available
